Dry Needling
Dry needling is performed by a proficient trained therapist, certified in the procedure.
It involves a fine needle being inserted into the bodyβs muscle tissue.
It is aimed at treating muscular trigger points which are a local contracture or tight band in a muscle that can disrupt function, restrict motion, refer pain or cause local tenderness.
When dry needling is applied to a trigger point, it can decrease restriction, increase blood flow, and reduce local and referred pain.
Dry needling can be carried out at superficial or deep tissue level to help reduce muscular tension.
